"Routine being simultaneously comforting and the lullaby of mediocrity"....A life without risks is surely alluring; the comforting routine with its sweet lullaby of safety and familiarity has lulled many a man or woman into the trap of soul-crushing mediocrity and apathy. This is why we are urged to live each day as if it were our last...
Kim, you're comments are so timely. I know you and Chad are busy but there is something I believe you will benefit from. Briefly: Lisa Gilbert is a young, 25 year old doctor/poet/writer here in Dallas who has just left for India and Africa. Though a veteran to foreign cultures and travel, the next 2 1/2 months will be quite the adventure due to the unique way she will be experiencing it. With alarmingly insightful and vibrant language she is chronicaling her observations and experiences from a perspective you and Chad will find intriguing, alarming, inspirational and disturbing. Her gift for writing and language will not escape you. I do not know her new Facebook page but there are two addresses I must give to you.
1) She has agreed to enter her recently started journal and creative writing in a folder on the LGBC's simple web "posting" based web site. It is at:http://www.wanderingtribe.org/cgi-bin/re?op=expand&message=936&expand=4#936
2. Next, you will find her MySpace page more than just a little fascinating. That is where her poetry and creative writing have been posted. She also started the first installment of her INDIA DIARIES there. It is at: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=26164742
Anyone who finds this "intro" to her here, interesting, will really enjoy her writing. NOTE: Before she left, she had expressed a desire on more than one occasion to visit THE STUDIO, but so far her schedule simply has not afforded her the opportunity. She doesn't know it yet, but she is a STUDIOHEAD.

ReplyDeleteHow true. And, yet, how difficult. We must help each other!
